I handed my website into Mr Powell today. It felt good. There were a few minor problems while saving but Mr Powell fixed them. bye for now :)

Finished My Website...

I have finally finished my website and poster. I am really happy with how it turned out, and feel like i did a good job. In tomorrows lesson i will be handing in my website and i hope Mr Powell likes it as much as i do. :P

The Design of My Website and Poster...

The design of my website and poster is really girly and sweet. It has a cloud background and the colour scheme is purple, blue, pink and white. The reason I made it really girly is because the film is a little bit like normal chick flick movies, and also because it is about three girls. I also made my icons cute, and I think it fits in well with the website and film. I got all the icons from the same website so they all look the same. I am really happy with how my website turned out. I feel like I put allot of effect into this website and poster and I feel like I did a good job. I still have a few minor adjustments to fix up, which I will be completeing tonight and it will be ready for handing in tomorrow. :)

I was almost finished my website, but the I lost my USB for the first time!! But lucky I saved my website to my home computer so I just saved it on another USB and now i have to complete it. I have recently started looking at movie posters, as i have learned we have to make one for our movie. I have been doing some research and will let me know my findings in my next post, as I am still in the middle of doing it. I have a few ideas in mind, and I hope to start making my poster by the beginning of next week. My website is so close to finishing and I am really pleased with it. I feel like i have made a little progress in the past week.

Term 4

The Final Film...

Here is the final version of our film A Summer Apart. Gabby and I have found out how to save it as a proper Quicktime Movie.I am really happy on how the film turned out, I am pleased with Gabby's and I's effort. I feel like i did a good job, and i hope you like it as much as i do. I have tried to load up the much clearer version but so far it is taken me 3 hours. So you might have watch it from our last post, but don't worry noting has changed apart from the fact the the fuzziness has gone.

I am really happy with my film, and did well as some of the scenes were hard to film but we got them. My inspirations for this film was:

We Have Finished Our Film!!

After a long time we have figured out how to save our film. Gabby and I have finished our film and it is looking really good, i am happy with the final product and i fell like all the late afternoons filming and hard work has payed off. I love it.. and i hope you do too.. Here it is:

We have had some problems saving.. and it has been really hard as Mr Powell has been away. Hopefully it will be easy to fix. :) :) :)

Our Progress

We have finished putting the whole film together, it is looking good and i feel like we did a good job and all the hard work and late afternoons filming paid off. :) We deleted a few scenes as they were a little bit to hard to film. The scenes we deleted were:

• Scene 6: Girl 1 sends a letter to Girl 2 about what she has been doing.
  
• Scene 7: Girl 2 imagines what girl 1 has been doing by reading the letter.
  
• Scene 9: Girl 2 puts the letter down and walks towards here boss's door.
  
• Scene 12: Writes letter to girl 3.
  
• Scene 13: Girl 3 recieves letter from Girl 2. As she is reading, she imagines what girl 2 has been doing.

istopmotion

We have started to put our film together and we just have to add titles. We also have to slow down some of our stop motion scenes, and make some scenes faster, this is mainly the letter scenes.

Finished the Stop Motion

We have finally finished filming our istop motion scenes. It looking really good, we are going to start putting it together soon. I can't wait to see what the final piece looks like. I feel like we are on track.

Animation Analysis Task

Identify the imagery by listing what you see eg the subject matter; objects, shapes etc

In this short film they have used iStopMotion and a little bit of animation. This video shows people working in a factory, they don't look very excited. It also involves a lot of tools and machinery. The person who created this video replaced a lot of the tools with parts from a human body for example, the grabber of objects is replaced with a human hand. This short film is in back and white, this makes the video look depressing, sad and boring and it makes the person watching feel sorry for the people working, and puts them in a depressing sad mood. Some scenes in this film seem to repeat itself somethings. The sound effects in this video is of the different machines, there is no dialog included in this video. The person who created this video also exaggerated the size of the different tools used for example, the spanner was ten times bigger then it's actual size, this is to show how hard and painful it is to do this job.This shows sympathy for the people in this video.

What is your overall impression of the mood of the work?
This video is not very exciting. It feels very boring and slow, but i think that that is what the artist of this video wanted to do. In some parts when i saw the people with the miserable look on their face, it made me feel a little bit sorry for them. I feel like this video was made to show how much people have to work and put up with, and seeing this video makes you feel sorry for all the people working hard in factory's and even though they look like they want to quit they can't.


Watch and Listen for visual language cues, sound cues and editing
The whole film is in black and white, which gives it a depressing and boring mood. It is extremely repetitive, and there are lots of mechanical sound effects e.g. the hand coming down. There is also no dialogue, and no real storyline, so it is a little bit hard to understand, so you have to watch the film quite a few times. This work was done in iStop-motion as well as Animation as in between the film you could hear pauses in the sound effects when it switches scenes.

The movie is in back and white with no other colours. There are a lot of lines and different shapes used in this short film. There is no dialogue in this film and the only movement in this film is people bopping up and down and walking. They have blown up the size of normal everyday tools such as the spanner. As i stated before there is no real story line that follows and is mainly repetitive.

There are sounds of different machines working it sounds like it has been recorded. There is also sounds of people working and walking. You can also hear things dropping and beeping which sound like the noise that the computer does. The sounds sound like they have been recorded as the quality of the sound isn't clear in some parts.

Interpretation:

What is your interpretation of the work?

My interpretation of the work is that the maker of this film is trying to give the message that some people live boring, dull and repetitive lives with no enjoyment working to try and earn money. If we don't do something about this our lives are going to be like this for the rest of our lives.

Survey friends and family ~ what do they think the work is about?

My sister thinks it is about people doing work and thinks it is rather boring.

Alisha Seeto states:My interpretation of the work is that the artist is trying to show everyone how much work goes into a factory or really anything in the world. There are little people who work hard for the big people. Sometimes the small people do not get recognized and nobody thinks about them. I think that it also trying to make people understand that it’s not always sunshine, lollipops and rainbows. In this video it is black and white and dull – not very happy in this factory!

Gabby stated:

My interpretation is that the artist is trying to say that many workers live boring, repetitive lives and they will stay that way unless they decide to change them. Work is not always fun and life can get repetitive.

Who do you think is the intended audience for Matreyek's work?

I don't think Matreyek didn't have a specific audience, although if he did have a specific audience I think it would be adults as they will be able to relate to what he is trying to say about hard working days and jobs and they do work everyday day and they will understand the theme if this short film.

How does visual language inform your interpretation?

The whole film is in black and white and all the scenes are repetitive and the sound effects where repetitive to. There is the same use of lines and shapes as well. Also the people are pretty much doing the same just with different tools.

How has Matreyek used sound with the animation images to create meaning?

Matreyek used the same repetitive sounds over again, this is also shown with the images. to give it a boring and receptive theme just like the average day at work. this is because you hear the same sounds over and over again each day with the same job that people are doing around you.

Preview of our letters

Here is all the videos of the letters that each girl sends to each other, whatever happens in the letter the same thing happens in animation but it is a little bit different.I feel like the letters have turned out really well, with the sound. we made it so that the music goes with whats happening in the letter. I will post the rest up next lesson.

iStopMotion

We have finally set a date to start filming our iStop Motion parts. I feel like we are making great progress and we are more then half way finished. :)

Animation-ish

After a few weeks of hard work, Gabby and I have finished all our animation bits. So now all that is left to do is our istop motion parts which will take a lot of time.We were thinking since we need other people to be in our film we are going to do all the filming on the weekends. Here is a short preview of scene 1 and 4. Hope you like it.

Our Progress

I feel like Gabby and I are making good progress. We have decided that we are going to finish all the letters first, then the animations and lastly the istop-motion. Gabby and I have finished all our letters in 2 lesons!! and we will be going on to our animtions next week. I will post a short preview up later as it takes a while to load.

Gabby and I have finished our story board! it took us a while but I think we did a great job. This is three pages of our story board including scenes 1-18

A Few Changes!! =) =)

A few changes heve been made to mine and Gabby's story board as we have changed the number of girls from 4 to 3 becuase Mr Powell said it might take to long to finish the short film if we do to many people. This is because we will have to do about 100 or mores scenes for each person. =)

Our Story

Gabby and I have decided on our story! We are slightly going to base it on the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. They are going to stay in touch by writing letters to each other. The movie is about 2-3 friends who go in different directions. We are going to use animation-ish when the friends are reading the letter so we can see what is happening in animation like she is seeing it all happen in her head. In the istopmotion parts we will be filming our cast. I am really excited to see how it turns out!! :) :)

The Cast

Person 1 is going on exchange to Europe (France/Paris). My sister Aakanksha Bose will playing her on stopmotion. She is going to a school in France and she feels like she doesn't fit in. Her solution she starts to picking up french and people start to become her friends and teaches her french.

Person 2: Is a sporty person she loves basketball and is very clumsy. Allison Paxton-Hall will be playing this part. She goes to a Basketball camp and breaks her arm. In the end since she can't play basketball for around 6 weeks so she becomes the teams coach.

Person 3: Wants to be a Fashion Designer and gets an internship with the designers of Valley Girl. Emma Whittle is playing this part. She ends up losing her job as she changes a famous designers dress. Someone sees her designs and likes them and offers her a job at Guess as their new designer.

Person 4: She got accepted into Julliard, she has to compose a piece for her band to play at the Julliard music competition. Jamie Crowe is playing this part. In the end someone steals her sheet music. Someone else steels her song and makes it more up beat. Then she writes a better song and she wins the competition.

We will be using some extra people for the scenes as well.

Ideas for Film :)

I was planning to make a short istop motion film for my Assignment, but last lesson Mr Powell told us we could work in pairs so i decided to work with Gabby and do one big film.Our idea is to make and animated and istop motion film to show both the skills we have learnt. Our basic story line is a little bit like the sister hood of the traveling pants movie but we are changing a few things. What happens is the friends stay in touch by writing letters over a school term. In Animation-ish we would see what was written in the letters, by acting out what they wrote. We would need around four to five people.

My Second Stopmotion Video!

For this short film i used my istop motion skills. What i did was write a letter take a picture, then i would write another letter and then line it up using the onion skin and then take another picture and so on. I hope you Like it i made this film with Gabi S.

My First StopMotion

Today I started to make my first stopmotion film. I did the escaping pencil case. What we had to do is move the objects slowly out of the pencil case each time and click the space bar to take the photo! Once you have finished you play it back and it becomes a short film!! :) :)

Walking Man Across the Screen

On Advance-ish in Animation-ish i learnt how to make a man walk across the screen. What i did was get my animation of my walking man and made it move by using an icon called transform and keyframes. I hope you like my working man!!

This is the same animation as my second film but i have added sound effects. I did this by adding it into garage band and picked a sound effect from their library and added it to my film.

Hey, i have just finished my second animation for this term. It is a Man Walking in one spot!! What I did was i drew a man and in each frame i traced it and moved his legs to make it look like he is walking. This Animation was a bit challenging for me but i got it in the end :).

This is my first animation i have completed. We used the program Animation-ish. What we had to draw a circle and move it each time slowly. Then we could change the colour and add different effects. To get this animation on my blog i had to share it with quicktime. I hope you like it! :) :P

Evaluation

This whole process of making an Avatar was fun and I really enjoyed it. This task really worked out for me, I had a few problems along the way but with the help of Mr Powell I finally got them all fixed. I feel like i used my time correctly I finished both my Avatars and had some time to work on my blog. Although I thought I worked really well I felt like I should add and fix things up, but I still like the way everything has turned out. I think I worked well on my blog, but I also had some problems this is because during the process of making my avatar I had some trouble with making the file into a JPEG. Once got them working I tried to put them on blogger but it wouldn't let me so, I had to put them up in the last minute. I did have a good saving method as i saved it every 10 minutes onto my USB and on my home drive at school. I am very pleased with my final product, I am so happy because I never thought I would be able to do this, and I love the way it has turned out. If I had to do this Project I again I would like to try and change the background, I would also like to try some different emotions. So far I am really enjoying Creative Media, I can't wait and see what we are doing next term.

Reflection

I am really happy with both of my avatars; I think they look really good. I liked the way I did the skin and the eyes I think it looks really cool. I loved how can changed the nose to make it wider with liquefy. I also liked doing the hair I loved how I could change the colour and see how it looks. I had trouble with the hair it was hard to get every bit of hair to change the colour because you can't keep some bits black and other bits purple. I also had trouble with the eyes, it was hard because when I put the eyes on a separate layer they were huge but when I put the layer on with all the other layers they went back to small but I finally got it at the end. I changed the colour of the eyes, hair and the skin allot because all the colours I tried didn't show both emotions. I tried red, yellow, green. But in the end I used the colour purple and blue.
This term on photoshop I have learnt how to:

* Make and use layers
* Use the selection tools

* Use colour pickers and colour adjustments.
* Crop command
* Liquefy
* Hue and Saturation

My avatar is always happy or sad; they show a little bit of anger but not that much. I used these tools to reflect their personality as i used the liquefy tool to widen her mouth on my happy avatar or I also used it to make both their nose wider and larger and the eye brows look wavy and sad. I used the mask in many things, I used it on the hair and the eyes and the skin. I used the colour adjustment to change the colours. I used transformed to make the eyes bigger to make it happy and sad. I really like working independently, I prefer looking at the demonstrations on the smartboard. I am a visual learner and i am not a huge fan on taking notes and I like working on projects and learning new stuff as i go. I really like this project because that is what Mr Powell did during this avatar project while we were working he showed us different stuff that we could use on our final project. So to get this project done I basically watched all the demonstrations and videos on the smartboard and I knew what to do. But I did ask for a little bit of help when I did get stuck.
I really had fun with Photoshop this term!! :) :)

I really like what i have done with this avatar. I don't think i am going to change anything for my final product. But i would like to add a back ground in at the back so it really shows the emotion. Other wise i really like it allot.

This is what i have done so far. I like how it looks, but i would still like to change the colour of her hair and lips. I would also like to fix up a little bit around the eyes so none of her real skin can be seen. But i think it looks pretty good.

Personality Profile For My Avatar!

My avatars show both emotions happiness and sadness. When my avatar is showing the emotion happy, she loves meeting new people, she loves talking and smiling and saying hello. When my avatar is sad she doesn't like talking to anyone, meeting anyone, she doesn't smile and quickly rushes in to the jungle. My sad avatar sits and thinks to herself near a jungle tree and cries. My avatars are very caring and understanding. My avatars love to run around with Na'vi creatures in the jungle. My avatars are from a group called Ta'vi,they stay on the north side of the jungle. People can get very aggressive when it comes to people killing there animals. Na vi People on the other side of the jungle hate talking to Humans, but on the other hand the people of Ta'vi like to make friends with the Humans, although they tend to get a little bit aggressive when the Humans are trying to destroy their nation. When Humans are destroying their nation the Na'vi and Ta'vi people and creatures come together to save the nation. The people of Ta'vi have huge eyes to see all around them without turning around. The eyes are purple because it shows a sense of welcome, and it is also so that the people of Ta'vi can have x-ray vision and normal coloured vision so that they know when their enemies are and where they are hiding. Ta'vi people are blue because the colour blue represents sadness and happiness. Ta'vi people have a zebra printed skin so that they can match their creatures and trees in the jungle. Ta'vi people have big noses so that they can smell around them to find their prey. When the Ta'vi people are happy they have huge smile this is because they like to greet everyone as they walk past. The Ta'vi people when they are happy they have purple so that it matches their eyes. When the Ta'vi people are sad their hair changes colour to brown to tell people they are sad and don't want to talk.

I have decided to do Keira Knightly for my next picture showing the emotion sadness or depression. It will be exactly like Selena but with a few minor changes.

My Idea's

I think i will make my image look something like this but with a few minor changes, like the colour of her eyes and the hair and skin. I might also make the mouth a little bit smaller, because lets just say it looks a little bit freaky and alien like. To do this picture i used everything that i learnt this term and a little bit extra that Mr Powell helped me with.

These pictures show anger as they are frowning and squinting their eyes and nose. They look angry becuse one of them is screaming on the phone the other is covering his ears and the last one is crossing her arms. These people look angry for some reason and they look like they could need someone to talk to. Nobody is around. These picture show anger as two of them are tightening their lips and the other has her mouth open and looks like she is screaming.
